About
A studio with one engineer and no middle.
ForestBase LLC is a software studio based in California and working remotely with clients wherever they are. It exists to release apps we actually want to use, and to build software for clients well enough that they come back.
Why “ForestBase”
A forest grows slowly, from a base that doesn't move. That's the approach here: fewer projects, deeper roots, and software built to still be running in five years — not rebuilt every eighteen months.
Who's behind it
Ethan Martinez founded ForestBase after graduating in computer science from Sonoma State University. He has shipped apps to the App Store and Google Play as sole developer, built LLM-powered features into production products, and worked on a NASA-funded computer vision research project. He also plays professional baseball as a catcher.
How we work
Say no early
If a project isn't a fit — wrong stack, wrong timeline, wrong budget — you hear it on the first call, with a pointer to someone who is.
Working software, weekly
Progress is shown as builds you can install, not status reports. Surprises get smaller when you can see the thing every week.
You own everything
Repositories, developer accounts, domains, cloud — all created in your name from day one. Leaving should be easy, even if you never do.
